For those of you who don't live in the NYC area, one of the best sporting goods stores on Earth. I remember when they had the sneakers on crates.
Thanks being a Midwesterner I have not heard of Mo's.

I still have the MacGregor Moose Skowron signature first baseman's mitt I bought at a Modell's, I think it was in the west forties, back when I was "New Yawk" Pete. I vaguely remember it was one of the more expensive ones, at fourteen bucks!

Texas 'New Yawk' Pete,
What years was that.
I lived on the Lower East Side of Manhattan, from birth, until about Feb. 1956 and Modell's was located by the N.Y.C. Municipal building, I think on Broadway, but I can't remember the cross street.
Oh, Yeah! Forum Web. editor, thank you for clearing up my Model's link.
Ralph
BLT,
Neat 'N.Y.&A. RR.' flat, with Modell's trailer box on it and in your avatar, is that the famous Chubby Checker and you?
Good looking model. Enjoy it as I am sure it has a lot of local appeal to you.

Was the mid/late fifties, probably some time after Skowron's first All-Star appearance. As I recall, Modell's had several locations in the city, but I think I completely screwed up the remembering. I bought my glove at Herman's, somewhere in midtown! Sorry. I can't for the life of me remember what piece of gear I got at which Modell's.

Modell's is almost all over the place in the Greater New York City Metropolitan Area and out here in Nassau and Suffolk Counties, Long Island, N.Y.
Too bad there aren't as many hobby shops around, as used to be, as Modell's.
But, who knows anymore.
Though, I'm still a N.Y. Yankees fan, as a kids, my brother, cousins, friends and myself were big time Yankees fanatics!!!

Yes it is.
BLT,
Very cool sir, we have our own from here in Pittsburgh, Pa also.
Isalys was an orginal Pittsburgh, Pa business, HQ was in Oakland a subdivison of Pittsburgh. The Isaly's business was purchased and moved to Florida some time ago.
We lost a lot of businesses here in western Pa, due to taxes.

The Isalys Flat car and Trailer, a Pittsburgh, Pa original. Purchased at Jim's Train Shop many years ago!
I went to Modells as far back as 1946, there first store at 280 Broadway, in the New York Sun building. They started out as a surplus store. i believe Henry Modell started it.

The Isalys Flat car and Trailer
I like the flats and TTUX's . Now I want one of the"Isaly's"
BLT,
Brad like the original 1960's Billy Maz World Series Box Car, the original Isaly's Flat Car and Trailer might be hard to find. Good luck with your search! Jim had all this kind of original rolling stock in his fantastic train shop for many many years.

BLT,
That must have been great meeting Chubby Checker?
That is a nice happening.
Ralph
Pine Creek Railroad,
I see from your 'Profile' that you also knew someone famous, President Ronald Reagan.
Your flat and trailer box, with all of those decals, are neat.
Was, or is, Jim Train Shop a local store, because I never have seen them, until now in your post?
Ralph
RJL,
Good Morning. Jim's Train Shop was located in western Penna. in the town of Homer City. The owners of the store Jim and Peggy Sutter retired in December 2010 after being in business for thirty years. RJL, Peggy and I would of been glad to have you as a customer.
Jimmy
Thank you Jim,
For the information and invite.
I have only been in Western Penna., when our son attended The Art Institute of Pittsburgh for Motion Picture Special Effects, etc., a few times.
North Eastern Penna. manny times as my wife's Maternal Grandparents and family live in Nanticoke, Pa.
Ralph
Jim any of the "Isaly's" cars around?
Jim, I have the same question, as BLT.
If, there are any 'Isaly's' flats, with trailer box, for sale anymore?
Ralph
You can find Mo here http://www.metca.org/merchandi...sion_cars_2013.shtml
Thank you Bob,
The Modell's trailer box and flat car, are also a neat item to own.
Ralph
BLT and RJL,
I suggest placing a ad on the OGR wanted board. Check with Brady's Train Shop in Greensburg, PA. (724) 838-8448) One other person that I would call would be Harry Neil 724-864-5704.
Harry is a TCA member that occasionally will purchase a collection from someone here in western PA. and then take it to local train shows to sale. Good luck to the both of you in your search.
Thank you Jim for helping,
Take Care,
Ralph
There are many MO's in Brooklyn now including two on Fulton Street only blocks apart. There is also a very large store on Atlantic Avenue right across the street from the Barclays Center, home of the NBA Brooklyn Nets. Nets hats, shirts and other stuff can be purchased there a lot less expensive than buying the same stuff in the arena. I live in Florida but I was there in Brooklyn during the construction of the new arena.
As you can see from the photo in the original post, the actual car looks much better than the computer generated image used on the order form. The shipping process ofr these will be concluding soon, so if you want one, time is of the essence:

Brad, I'll be out there in a couple of weeks. If you do find out they have one. I could pick it up for you.

Gentlemen,
You might try calling both Brady's & Harry Neil, Harry may have a couple of his own
on his home layout, maybe you can talk him out of one of them. Brady's might have one stuck away some place also. Every once in a while, one will surface at the train show here in Monroeville, Pa, but not very often.
