I went to the open house of the Grand Strand Model Rail Road Club this morning and I highly recommend a visit by those able to get to North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Here's a link to their website:
The GSMRRC has several operating layouts in O, HO and N gauges. The kids will enjoy the O-gauge layout as it features several push-button operating Lionel accessories such as the milk car, horse car, yard tower, and others. Four O-gauge trains were running including a 1932 Lionel tinplate set, and MTH steam starter set and a Lionel 671 set.
The club members running the trains were very friendly. I find it interesting that the layouts are in a store in a mall, so trains through the window display area. Apparently the GSMRRC has a symbiotic relationship with the mall to draw-in people. The visitor count since last August is 39,000. Wow! The layouts are at:
