I have a backup light on this engine that does not come on. Have tried a reset. switch in prog hit engine number and red button then eng button and number again, aux1 and 1 button is supposed to rest to factory settings but no back up light. Check the led light and it works on a 1 1/2 volt battery so it is not burned out. tried the reset button on the cab 2 and nothing . Could it be a bad radio board. everything else on loco works fine. any help would be apreciated.

What is the Lionel number for this engine? Aux1 1 is not a typical feature setting.
Pete
Norton, in the legacy system steam is 1 and diesel is 2, in tmcc steam is 4 and diesel is 8 and there are special numbers for certain items which is in the owners manuel.
Did you follow all of the steps for reprogramming or just push AUX 1-1?
I
f your locomotive is unresponsive to your commands in the TrainMaster Command Control
environment, we recommend that you follow this procedure to reset your locomotive. All
factory default settings will be restored when you reprogram the locomotive.
1. Slide the Command reverse unit switch to the PROG position.
2. Plug in and connect your Command Base.
3. Place your locomotive and tender on the track, then power up the track.
4. Press ENG and enter the locomotive’s ID#.
5. Press SET.
6. Press ENG and enter the locomotive’s ID# again.
7. Press AUX1.
8. Enter 1 for this particular locomotive.
9. Turn off track power and wait ten seconds.
10. Slide the Command reverse unit switch back to the RUN position.
At this point, your locomotive has been reset. Restore power to the track and operate the
locomotive as usual. Be sure to use the ID# entered in Ste
that is exactly what I did.
OK, try what I told you.
I pulled the audio board off and then pushed it all the way back on and then the power board and made sure both where all the way on. I then reprogramed the engine again and still no backup light. Any other suggestions and thanks for what you have given me so far.
Did you try Marty's suggestion about switching with another legacy tender.
Bill
I guess I am lost as to what will switching to another tender do for the correct tender unless it is to check the locos electronics. I will do that and asume I look to see it the engine turns the backup light on on the other tender.
If the other tender backup light goes on, you need a new audio board.
Have you checked that the connections from the board to the led are fitted correctly and working? It's not unknown for connectors to come loose in transit, or for plugs & cables to fail.
Isn't the backup light on the RS power supply like the TMCC models?

Radio, IR Decorder or Audio board for back-up light.
Bill
Power to the rear light in Legacy is as I stated above. Several things are not the same as TMCC. Constant hot is supplied to the light and the Railsounds audio board shuts on/off the ground to light your light. I apologize for not being clear above. Pin number 9 on the Railsounds audio board shuts the ground on/off to light your rear light. On your Railsounds power board and Railsounds audio board, hot is pins 1 and 2. This is tapped with the appropriate drop down resistor for the rear light. This hot is always present in Legacy.
Tried my fef tender on gs4 and yes the backup light on the fef tender works fine. Now to get a sound board.
You have taken the engine out of the mix. A new audio board and you will be good to go.
