Good Evening to All!
I have what I believe to be an odd situation with a locomotive of a friend of mine. I try to do some "Pro Bono" repair work for some fellow club members and this has me stumped.
It is a Lionel 6-28397 ES 44AC locomotive - a NICE locomotive! I have found the following:
It runs fine in Legacy mode, all commands, crew talk, couplers, etc. function as they should.
In conventional mode however, after a good cleaning and lubrication, it runs good in a counter-clockwise direction, but in a clockwise direction, it stops intermittently on the layout (at approximately the same place on each rotation). After a few seconds, it continues on its way until the next interruption. The track is clean. No other trains have this issue.
I suspect he runs it in conventional mode. I tested it at around 12 to 13 volts with a ZW-L. Even at a higher voltage, it still suffers the same malady.
I know the easy fix is to tell him to run it counter-clockwise, but ...
Thanks for any help,
Dennis
