Help! Lionel 37996 (192 tower) Not working

Well Since I did not get any response I figured most or nobody had any problems with theres.. So I called Lionel  and she said that they would have to look at it and "if they did not have the parts they would refund me my money"

So after 32 yrs of working ,repairing and modifying  Lionel trains I decided I want to keep my  control tower and since nobody has any in stock  I hate to loose it.. So  I did what most Lionel lovers would of done.... " I opened it up!"

I found a plastic gear the type that looks like a slot car gear the part that is on the motor  .... IT was split and jamming the rotation of the two gear .. (it expanded where it was splt)

I called Lionel again and asked  if I could have a replacement gear .. "Warning this is the bad part"  She tell me now that I opened it up there is NO WARRANTY ... I told her I did not CARE if I bought the part it can't be more than .50 cents!!!

I also reminded her she told me that if they did not have the parts they would refund me and I reminded her I want it!

So I asked her if I can have the part and she said there  is none!!!   I asked her what the tech would do  she said he would of tried to match it up .. And if he couldn't find one he would give my money back..

I told her that I have slotcars 1/24 and this was thicker than a slot car  plastic gear.Also why couldn't I jst ask the tech..if he thought he had it.. she said NO WARRANTY

As they say in the bus.. I told her to "forget about it!"  and hung up

I see the shaft is splined too thick I file it down and for good measure super glued it on   SO far after a hour its quiet and smooth!

All I can say I wanted this item .......but will think how bad I want anything else this new  ... Lots of good old stuff out there able to be fixed with out the hassle!

Dan I purchased one of those last year and when I tried to use this year I got the same results. I purchased a new motor from a parts place. It has not arrived yet whenit does will let you know how it worked.

Any chance this is what you are looking for?  It is $10 at Lionel.

What is strange is Lionel made two ( operating towers ) other units with this motor and set up  ... Why LIONEL does NOT  have them is so ? to me....And why when I called she just had me call them? ( well email only)
