Yesterday I got my 2035 running for the first time in 14 1/2 years.  It ran good for the 5 or so minutes I had it running, even smoked a little.  A few hours later I went to run it again and now it's sluggish and making this noise, can you help?

Oh, and I was sitting it my garage after I ran it and its probably 58 degrees in there, not sure the cold cold hurt it
Thanks,
Mike

Alex is correct, it needs oiled. the squeal you are hearing is coming from the armiture shaft. You need to put a drop of oil on the brush plate side and the gear side. Each of the six main wheel axle bushing need a drop of oil. Then of course the trailing truck and front truck axles. Don't forget to do the same for the tender axles.

Not too much oil on the armature shaft on the side with the brushes.

On locos with more wear I use something heavier like motor oil, whatever viscosity is handy.

If you lube it and it starts squealing again after a few minutes of operation, it means the bearings are worn excessively.
