Help with older blue comet smoker unit? MPC 8801

time for a new smoke unit, mine did the same thing a few years back if you can solder it's easy to replace

Do you know the part number? 

You don't need a new smoke unit, just a new resistor and wick.  Is this conventional or command?  If command, the R2LC triac just croaked.

Pop off the black plastic lid and replace the 8141-55 smoke resistor. You probably also need the 671-212 lining since it is likely charred (1piece is sufficient). The black plastic lid (2029-16) and the gasket (671-181) look good enough to re-use. Re-use the woven insulating sleeve too.
*Don't bother with the 8141-56 resistor sleeve. It is designed to act as a wick for the smoke fluid, but it just chars and becomes useless. Lionel actually phased it out a while ago.

I love how you guys know all the part numbers off the top of your head.  The resistor seems like it burnt into the lid which also fused the gasket and some of the lining all together. While I was at it , it seems like I've melted and ruined my bulb too. Should I just get a whole new socket? 

I've also got an issue with my tender. It seems like it doesn't chuff anymore. When it does it's extremely faint. 

Do all these things tend to go at once?  It hasn't ran in over 7 years and had questionable service before that. 

Question: did you leave it cranked up in neutral before shooting that video?  That would explain both of your issues.

Before that run. No. I did hold it above the track though. I don't have those awesome dyno rollers like some of you guys have. It was running like normal for about 5 minutes.

I also don't know how to use Lionel's part catalogue online. The parts that I punch in doesn't show up.

Sorry for bringing this back to the top, but why don't you put the sleeve on the resistor?

My last one was black. Also what front light bulb do I need? I ordered one 2313-300 but the one that was installed looked like the 8352-300. Any help is greatly appreciated 

Also I use 1 or 2 of the lineing? What I pulled out looks like more then one.

1 more this. I should re-use the black slave on the left correct?

Because it was a stupid idea, and even Lionel finally figured it out.  When I do any smoke unit, the first thing that goes is that sleeve if it's still there!
