I was able to fit the PS-32 board into a K-Line Tank engine.  Modification pictures attached.  This is like a diesel upgrade since no tether.  So harness are custom made.  I modified smoke to remove components and also isolate the heating element from ground.  Replaced element with 16 ohm which works well.  You can see the cuts on PCB, I soldered the wires into the vacant holes appropriate for the heating element.  The coupler also needs to be modified to fit the tanker, but the standard MTH coupler can be made to work.  Wires get wrapped for routing since much of the forward of the tank is exposed.

For mounting the board you need to cut off the boss that holds the DCDR and use the existing stud.  Tight fit, but got it in there.  Wires route under board to the existing switch and volume pot and such at rear of engine.

I loaded the PS-2 3V Camel back file which includes Quillable Whistle.  I also pulled the K-Line Flywheel and installed an MTH flywheel with stripes.

This has a 25 to 1 ration. Runs and smoke very nicely.   G

Nice work G.  And thanks sooo much for posting the gear ratio.  So many people use speed control as a band-aid for a poorly designed mechanism, when its best use is to complement an already smooth runner.  One of these days I'm going to publish a database of gear ratios.  The most important and least known factor affecting operation :-)
