I was doing a tune-up on my childhood Lionel Tie-Jector last week and looked at the silly molded-in plastic "headlight" on the cab. I decided to remove it and put in an LED headlight.  In the photos below, you can see how it was done. I drilled out the old headlight so it would accept a headlight lens. I ordered it from Lionel for another project (came with an incandescent bulb). I made it a tight fit, so I didn't have to glue it in. Added an Evans 3mm warm white bulb (Gooped to the back of the lens). I cut off the excess lens material in the back so the wires and lens would not hit the "driver". One of the photos shows the connections to the car's wiring. One other thing.....there was alot of light leakage in the cab from the back of the LED. I added several layers of black liquid insulation which ended up sealing the leaks. 

 

Along the way I thought it would be nice to add a reverse board to this car, but the space at the front of the car was too small for the smallest board I could find (a Dallee).
