RE:  LIONEL 9-42032 115th Anniversary Blue Neon Pub Clock

My question should be very simple but apparently it is not.  I want to know the number on the face of the clock someone is selling.  If, really, there were only 115 produced then on the box it should tell which is in the box as 34 of 115, etc.  Illustrations show 1 of 50, others show 50 of 115 and in my conversation with Lionel this afternoon I was told every clock says 1 of 50.   This information supposedly came from the production manager at Lionel.   Hmmm...yet here's a photo with 78 of 115 on the face.  Lionel-9-42032-115th-Anniversary-Neon-Pub-Clock-Uncataloged-Only-115-Made-MINT  All I want to do is know what the number is before I spend the money.  Is that so difficult?

Any information is appreciated.  Thanks,

Richard Snipes

This makes absolutely no sense that all the clocks produced would say 1 of 50.   Why even bother labeling them at all, if that were the case???    I'll even go so far as to say that would be asinine... and the fact that a Lionel product manager or customer service rep would tell you such nonsense further indicates they're often more clueless than I've thought in recent years.

... I do have one of the Lionel 115th Anniversary clocks and they are indeed numbered individually as "X of 115." As I recall, that number is on the outer carton paper label and the clock face.

So any seller should be able to tell you the "X of 115" numbering scheme.

This makes much more sense, and hopefully the seller could tell you ahead of time the exact clock number in the limited edition series you're purchasing...  which is certainly a reasonable inquiry on your part.

David,

I thought it was a reasonable request although, so far, only one seller has offered the information johnstrains mentioned.  Their clock is 50 of 115 but, that is a picture on the box of the clock with 50 of 115 on the clock face.  That is an interesting number to me but I'm not sure about paying $60.00 over list for a clock. My genuine Lionel Service  wired clock with neon was worth whatever I paid for it although I cannot remember, so there you go.  I thought having Lionel tell me they are all the same seemed dismissive.  I hope John will get back with perhaps a photo.

Richard,  Here you go. This is an older picture of my Lionel Anniversary Clock. As you see it is "37 of 115."  Uses a wall wart plug for power.

I noticed on various web sites that the "50 of 115' seems to be a stock photo that Lionel and others were using and is sort of meaningless. Obviously this clock was offered in a limited run of 115 units (and numbered) so any seller should be able to give you the number of their clock.

I believe I found this on eBay and it was at a pretty decent price. Not sure what the market is like for these now but good luck in your hunt!
