How Do You Like Your 2023 Lionel Legacy 2-6-0 Mogul?

Love mine. I have a MrMuffin custom NYO&W one. Mine is vey lightly weathered and I like that just fine. Contrary to what I do to structures, I never have gotten into weathered engines and rolling stock, so this lightly weathered engine is fine by me.

Please note, I have never run it conventionally. I have an active Legacy signal. So, it has always come up under command.

Like I said, l love it!

If you only run conventional have you considered a Mogul from a previous run. The ones from early 2000s are very smooth runners both the TMCC and conventional engines.

Not a huge fan, personally. I got two, both derail over switches if operating in reverse, the pickup rollers drop down too low, and lodge them selves in the frog of the switch. One of them does that even in forward. Both had the issue with the traction tires also causing derailments, which was fixed with an MTH tire in my case. Lionel said they were sending tires, but Im still waiting in those. I did however love the whistles chosen on them, and the paint is pretty color accurate I thought. Mine started out running very well (SRR 89) but then developed an issue with the flashing cab light and would not move. I sent it back to Lionel for repair. The tech said there was a mechanical issue the gearbox that was causing problems with the encoder; the tech told me it could not be repaired, so Lionel replaced the entire loco. Unfortunately, the replacement is defective right out of the box--it makes a grinding noise as it rolls down the track (both directions). So, back to Lionel it will go.

I sold my B&M TMCC Mogul over the summer, and now I regret doing so.

I'm with Pete, the TMCC & Conventional models from the early 2000's seemed bulletproof.  OTOH, I've heard a couple of reports of issues with the new Mogul, they sound like the problems that killed the last Legacy version run from the 2016 Catalog.

I bought a TMCC Mogul from Trainz about three years ago and am quite pleased with it. I posted this question before buying the 2023 version because I was aware of the situation with the 2016 Legacy versions. Thanks to everyone for your replies.

I just watched your review; had I seen this earlier, I doubt I would've bought a Mogul. I had the same issue with pickup rollers on the new Legacy Mogul dropping into switches and getting caught. I'm using the K-Line / RMT / O-Line Reproductions Super Snap switches on my layout, and a wooden GarGraves tie fits perfectly where indicated in blue in the attached photo. This prevents the rollers from catching, and the loco rolls right through the switch.

I love mine.  I only run it in Legacy.   I use Fastrack, and I have not experienced any derails backwards or forwards thru switches.
