Post York Depression Syndrome. I for one didn't get enough of the experience this time. I wanted to go to Tuesday's however Joshua, my son, had been run too hard to make it work. We got to the to the parking lot at Tuesdays at 6:30 for a quick trip in and he said he was ready to go home. It was at that point that I realized I didn't feed him anything since the 3rd Rail Mike hot dog at 10:30.

Back to the PYDS, this was not a normal York trip. My wife's birthday was Friday, so I was only able to attend Thursday and drive home. It just wasn't enough! We ran through all the halls but we didn't see everything due to the speed of the run through. I realized I missed a lot in Orange Hall including Darstaed Trains booth. I missed that whole 1/2 row.  I loved the trip; it was just not enough for my appetite. So now the PYDS has set in and I feel jipped. My wife was sick all day on her birthday--so I sat around thinking about York. So I guess I won't get over this PYDS for a while. Any chance we could get the NJ HiRailers to have Trainstock twice a year?

Anyone suffering from PYDS?

Sorry to hear you couldn't get the full experience this time around. There's always next year - er, next Fall!

I personally had my best York to date. Was able to cross off a large number of top items on the wanted list and luckily ran out of things I was interested in at the same time that I ran out of money  Thursdays at Tuesdays was a blast, the photos I took on Friday were a hit, the drive back to NY was easy, spent a day out in the Hamptons with relatives and dropped off the loot for RV pickup later, and am home now enjoying the spoils I could get on the plane. Literally could not have gone better.

If anything I'm hoping October stays far away. I need time to heal my train account!

I was wondering why I didn't see you guys at Tuesdays on Thursday.

I definitely experience York Withdrawal when I get home.  Fortunately, this section of the forum helps with the symptoms, and my club is setting up Saturday for a show, so the opportunity to run trains further helps.

Now, like Eddie, I'm looking forward to October!

There's always so much sensory overload between seeing all the stuff that's out there and available in this hobby, and then seeing all the people gathered in one place Thursday night for some socializing, that it can't help but be a letdown when you're heading back to your daily routine back home.

One thing that definitely contributed to the letdown was the drive home for me.  Maybe because York came "late" this year because the way the calendar fell, maybe that was a week further into the planting season....whatever the reason, the ride home along routes 30 and 222, through the Lancaster and Reading and Kutztown areas, was especially "pungent" this year!!

As a little different spin on your theme, Scott, I am having non-York nostalgia syndrome.

Having not been there this time, at my traditional spot (12 Yorks) in the Orange Hall, and having sufficiently tortured myself by scrutinizing the informative photos provided by you and Nick, I surely miss having been present (though it was for a very happy reason.) I found myself examining Nick's photos to see if the spot where my booth has been were visible in any of his photos but could not discern the empty space.

So, yes, I am having post-York-I-missed-it-all phenomenon.

It begins slowly.  At about 1:30pm on Saturday my wife and I finished up the third Orange Hall visit.  Walking to the car the sadness began to set in.  But I refused to give in.

I drove over to the Silver Hall to visit the TCA Convention booth.  There I purchased two convention cars and a convention patch to eventually display in our Train Room.  I started feeling good again as they bagged up my purchases.  Joyfully returning to the car where my wife was waiting to show her my last minute purchases.  But once I placed them amongst the rest of our kitty, I was faced with having to start the car to drive home.  It is now 1:55pm.

So I ended up torturing myself.  I sat there, to the amusement of my wife, and waited until after "Happy Trails" was played over the P.A. system.

I started the engine and very slowly drove out of the Fairgrounds at the Main Street gate to head over to Latucca's for a late lunch, which we always enjoy after the end of the Meet.  The food was excellent as usual (thanks Peggy and Vince for suggesting the meatball sub!).  After our meal it was back to the car again for the agonizing trip home.

Of course, I had to pass by the Fairgrounds once more on the way.  Glancing at the parking lot you could see vendors still loading up their trucks and vehicles. My mind wandered, thinking of all the trains and related items I saw, all the friends we broke bread with and new people we met.  Train talk most of the time and catching up with daily life.  So much fun to participate in this unique social event.

As we headed east on Rt. 30 I briefly perked up thinking about the new items we got operating on the layout.  But as soon as we crossed the Susquehanna River, it was like departing from The Vortex of Fantasy.  We got home a little over an hour later, unloaded the goodies and luggage and relaxed the rest of the evening watching the ballgame.  I was tired and sad it was over so soon, but I can't wait to enter the Vortex once again in October!!

PYDS  too much !! i thoroughly enjoy the ride home focused on how to incorporate my new buys into my collection and layouts. At least most of you will be back in October 2014

I am working on a project with key deliverables  in October-2014 and May - 2015 so I most likely wont be back until October 2015. The local meets will have to do!!!
