How to remove body from Lionel Legacy SD40? | O Gauge Railroading On Line Forum

I have a Lionel Legacy SD40-2, Item 6-38934, from 2013 Signature catalog.

The instructions say that the controls (PROG/RUN switch) are under the long hood where they can be accessed by removing the hood roof.

I can't remove the hood roof. Nor can I remove the body.

Any thoughts on what I thought would be an easy fix?

Thank you. That little hatch was glued pretty tightly in place. I used a 1/2"wide 1/16" thick piece of styrene to pry it open.

I am still trying to find out how to remove the body.

I need to install an inductor to eliminate DCS signal interference.
