I have done the following:

1.  Upgraded my TIU to 5.0

2.  Upgraded my remote to 5.0

3.  Opened the box on my brand new wifi interface.

4.  I connected the wifi interface using the provided cable to the TIU

5.  I selected MTH on the interface and I powered up the interface

6. I downloaded the MTH DCS app on my ipad

7.  I SELECT ENGINES AND THERE ARE NONE LISTED

8.   Yes it is connected via wifi connection

9.  Trains work with the handheld DCS remote, but I get nothing on the wifi.

10.  I have the latest DCS companion book but I don't see anything that addresses this problem.

HELP WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED

Thanks Buddy!  Panic averted!  Little did I know I had to add engines.  I assumed the engines were stored in the TIU but looks like they are stored in the remote.  So, I removed all of my engines, placed one at a time on the track and added each to the app.  I've got to say, I love operating my layout with the iPad over the remote.  Was it worth the money?  I say, heck yes!

The "trick" to successful use of the DCS App is to ensure that both the app and the WIU firmware are at version 1.1.

The app will, if your iOS or Android device is setup to update apps automatically (recommended), always be at the latest version. The WIU is a slightly different story.

In conversation with MTH this week, I learned that, since February, MTH has been ensuring that all WIUs in their shop have version 1.1 firmware before they're sold. However, dealers may have stock from January and earlier that still has version 1.0 firmware. Unfortunately, at this point in the app's life, the 1.1 app must have 1.1 firmware in the WIU to work properly. While I expect that the requirement that both be at the same version will relax down the road, at present it's a fact of life.

I strongly recommend that new purchasers of the WIU either obtain proof of the WIU's firmware level before they purchase it or, alternatively, immediately update their WIU to firmware version 1.1, which can be found by clicking here.

Is there a way to check the WIU firmware version?  I purchased WIFI not long ago and just trying to set up. Everything worked as described until I went to add engine. Came back as no engines found. My app is version 1.1.  Using Rev L TIU at 5.0 and remote at 5.0.

I haven't tried to remove all my engines and just put one on the track. But I just added a new engine at same track location into remote with no issue.

Yes, you have to access the TIU management console via the IP address.  You have to use another device (laptop, etc.) load the console.  If you go to the MTH website and locate the WIU under their product search, it'll give you a link to download the full manual.  It'll walk you through the how to upgrade it step-by-step.   This sounds the exact problem I had.

The process to update the WIU firmware is just a few steps longer than the process of looking at the WIU to see what firmware is present, so I suggest that you saintly do that.

For your convenience, I've attached a copy of the complete WIU User Guide to the post. The information to update the WIU is on pages 11-13.
