I finally got around to doing my usual check on my new Polar Express Berk.

The first big surprise for me was no Canon motor I was taken back I fully expected a Canon. It’s still no Pittman but hopefully this motor has a full life.

with the lack of a Canon I also noticed no gear tower just the old tried and true worm on a worm wheel. Of course naturally even though it’s got “grease” the worm wheel is bone dry 🥲

other than that it’s your standard Legacy steamer

I might get brave and open my 844 to see if this has the same motor.

I'd be interested to see how this fares in comparison to the Cannon Canon type. It looks slightly smaller than the Cannon, Canon or it could just be how I last remember them.

Total diameter is definitely smaller not sure by how much I didn’t put a caliper on it. But length looks about the same.
