Hi Marty, you don't know me and we have never met, but you are a big inspiration to me and many others here on the forum. I would like to share a little story with you if you don't mind.

In 2014 I was diagnosed with stage 4 head and neck cancer, needless to say it was devastating to me, my wife and both of our family's. After many doctors one big neck dissection, months of Chemo and 7 1/2 weeks of radiation. My ENT that did the neck dissection told my wife and I to get my duck in a row, that I may only have 1 year to do what I want.

At that point my wife and I shared the news with both our family's, friends, members of this forum and with the help of all combined and all there prayers to the all might  here I sit 3 years in remission cancer free! I know the power of prayer first hand. My wife and I will be praying for you, your wife and your family!

May God bless you and give you a speedy recovery!

Marty:

You are one of the very best people in the industry and a dear friend to so many in our hobby. So sad to hear of your struggles and the fact that you will miss your first York Meet in 40 years. However, your return to good health is far more important than that streak. All the best to you for a speedy and complete recovery! I am sure that every member of the Forum and all of your other colleagues in our hobby are pulling for you!

Hello Guys.   It is my health.   A few years ago I had prostate cancer and needed to get my prostate removed.   That was followed up with radiation  and hormone therapy.   Two years ago it was discovered that I now have bladder cancer.    Three different operations were done to remove the cancer.   I just had one recently and the effects of being put out as many times as I have had are causing me all sorts of grief.   To top that, I had a blood clot removed from my leg only two days after the bladder operation.   I am trying to get better from all of this and doing my best.  I will not be at York this April.   This will be the first time I have missed from 1980.   I am a fighter and will hopefully go to York in the fall.    Thank you all for your concerns.  It is appreciated very much.   Being a person who never smoked a day in my life I will fight this.

Thank you for your concern David.

I hope you get well marty. As the once pround seaboard coast line used to state."PULLING FOR YOU!!"

Marty, though I only officially joined the forum two years ago I have been lurking and reading the forum since about 2000.  I cannot count the times you answered questions even before I knew I had the question. Thank you for the invaluable assistance you have given over the years especially for those who have never met you. My prayers are with you, get well soon.   John Acton

Marty,

Having experienced at least the first half of your ordeal, I know its no picnic, and the second half has got to be worse.  However, prayers ascend for your full recovery, functionality and enduring good health!  You have been a great help to me, in the past, and we can't afford to lose a great resource like you.  Hang in there and give 'em hell!
