Despite having Legacy for several years, I only started playing seriously with momentum today - checking out my new Lionmaster Challenger! I am curious:
Under TMCC (I think), momentum was a setting stored in the engine that determined its response to CAB1 commands.
Under Legacy, with Legacy control mode, it looks like momentum is implemented simply by modulating the speed commands issued by the CAB2 - at high momentum, the system ramps up speed steps more slowly.
- Is it therefore true that when running in Legacy mode, there is no momentum information stored in the engine itself?
- What about running a TMCC engine from the CAB2 in TMCC mode? Is momentum also just a function of how the CAB2 issues commands, or is there a setting stored in the engine?
(On a side note, I am kind of blown away by the difference between my 2001-vintage Challenger and the 2009 model. The difference in sound, smoke & control is amazing. And it's still from the "golden era" of engine-specific Crewtalk!)
