I have a new Lionel SD38 Legacy engine. The number board LED lights are as bright as the headlights; they look terrible. Is there any way with the Legacy or TMCC controllers to turn these lights off permanently. Tks

Also the new engine either shorts or derails some times on the long mainline Atlas turnouts and Ross curved turnout. More often in reverse when pushing back a string of cars. I think the coupler seems to swing to the side the way it is set  up derailing the next car it is pushing?? My large fleet of MTH engines run through these fine.

Any one had this issue. Otherwise a strong puller, looks and sounds good.

The number boards are tied directly to track power on most of these, that's why they come on as soon as you power up the locomotive.

There is no control to turn them off.

FWIW, I had a similar complaint about my then new F40PH units, one set of number boards was too bright, the others were too dim.  I finally bit the bullet and fixed both of them.
