I recently got this loco and test ran it with a late ZW and it worked fine. When I went to set it up for DCS Remote Control on the layout, the engine starts up in idle as soon as I turn the power on and the remote reads inactive engine on track. Consequently I can't get the remote to read it or reset it. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Check the following 4 things:

  • Make sure that the red LED on the TIU is lit.
  • Do a READ command and ensure that the DCS Remote finds the TIU.
  • Make sure that the DCS signal is on for all TIU channels.
  • Make sure that the red terminal of the TIU's channel's output is connected to the center rail of the track and the black terminal is connected to an outside rail.

If any one of the above is not true, you will get the symptoms that you describe.
