Just got a Fedex delivery from CharlesRo. They hadn't forgotten my pre-order from ~5 years ago!
Guess I will have to read the instructions and setup later. Forgot to install the lamp for the picture, I do have it.

That's great Dan. Cannot wait to see it in operation.
Cool-
I forgot all about those. Hope they do them in various railroad logos. I will wait for a Union Pacific one...
I got mine today from CharlesRo today too!!! I am waiting to open until I get home tonight!!!
i saw the original one that TAS did and back then i thought it was a great idea glad to see it finally done i am not much into acc but this one i may have to take the plunge
Well, it took Lionel awhile, but we DID get them. Good thing it didn't take us 41 years like the lift bridge.
Looks great so far, and hope to see it works just as good.
5 years?..........

I would not hold your breath on various railroad names. It's my assumption based on conversations with a few folks in the loop that this is going to be it for a long time on the smoke fluid loader. Take a look at what's cataloged and the recently announced additions and select from that...
Joe, actually 4 1/2 years. I pre-ordered 9/2011.
Searching the Internet and my Lionel 2016 catalog. Does anyone have the length and width dimensions? Can't find them anywhere.
The footprint is approx 13"x5"
Someone post a video. All you guys who bought them have been waiting forever so now let's get them hooked up and let's see a demo!

Thanks for the quick reply.
Please show us a Picture once you get it up and running.
Good luck,John
Pretty neat Dan, how much smoke fluid does it dispense at a time.
It's essentially a dropper. So you hold down the brake button and it dispenses one drop every second or so. So you can accurately count the number of drops added to the loco.
Along those same lines what is the total fluid capacity?
Does it blow in the stack to clear the bubbles?
It appears to be a very large tank. I put about 10 full eyedroppers in and had to push the output pipe down in further before it would work. Will have to have Greg pick me up a LARGE bottle of Lionel premium smoke fluid before our next meet.
It will also blow bubbles for a couple of pumps, sometimes, when you start filling an engine.
No, it does not blow down the stack for you. You may still need to do it manually.
Dan
That is darn cool!
I final got mine to work. As with every accessory it had to be tweaked. I had to disconect the tube and blow into to and then suck the fluild to get it started. Then it worked fine to the boom. It was also clogged at the tip. Now it works and I'll try posting a video
Way cool. I saw the original demo at York and can't believe how long folks had to wait for it. The wait was worse than DCS.
I have two questions: how do you know where to stop the engine, and what engine is that (model no.)?
Dennis
You park the engine in front of the shed and then adjust the position of the nozzle using the red throttle knob on the remote. The movement is finely adjusted so you can line it up easily.
Another fun note of discovery - if you put the fluid loader into program mode and hold down the brake button, you can empty the entire tank very quickly. Helps if you want to pack it up or change fluid or whatever. Good foresight by Lionel imo.
I was able to pour almost an entire bottle of premium fluid into mine. So capacity-wise I don't foresee having to refill the tank often.
Dennis - The engine is a Lionel Michigan Central - LEGACY - 2-8-4 Berkshire; 6-11392. It is from the K-Line tooling, an early/smaller Berkshire and is scale sized. Catalog: Lionel 2013 Signature Edition
Yes, you stop the engine perpendicular to the point where the fluid pipe come out of the building. You can be off a little.
Thanks Dan. I really like that engine.

Here is the link to the owners manual for those that want to know a little more about this interesting accessory.
Now, in real life, If one would put fluid down the stack, you would really mess up a steamer. One might cause a steam explosion! Maybe our steam engine pros can comment.

I suspect the next innovation should be that the fluid goes into the tender, then is pumped up to the smoke unit. Now that would be more prototypical.
On another note, with modern smoke generators, can loading smoke fluid while the generator is still hot damage it ?
We have all 3 in stock,
Dan, that is really cool, can we see pictures of the inner workings ?
Thanks, Alex

Bummer, I thought that would be a nice touch since you're automating the fill procedure. I have some loco's that need that pretty much ever fill.
I just saw Dan's video and it looks really cool. I never ordered one but after seeing it I think I would really like to make room for it on my layout. I will see if Lionel produces more then just the pre-order run.
I'm glad to see that my design has finally shipped.
Ernie
Hopefully they will have mine at york

Great thread and video. I like the Michigan Central locomotive. I can see this becoming a very popular accessory!
A future release of this fantastic accessory would be a version with Sounds effects. But as is This would be a fun accessory at my club's layout or at home.
Thanks for posting this interesting information!
Set up at the club last night. Easy instructions to follow. However, this does need tweaking. Took about 20 minutes to get the flow going. Make sure you have enough fluid in the tank as well as no air bubbles in the line. Once we got going, this was a way cool addition to the layout.
