Hi, I'm relatively new to this forum (it's awesome by the way!) so sorry if this might be in the wrong section. Trains have been in boxes for 6 years since I left for college, but they will return hopefully soon!
Anyway I have a K-line PRR 0-4-0 switcher (I think it was a KCC exclusive when it came out) that I like to pull out for the Christmas tree loop each year and a while back it stopped reversing (note: this was when it was on my layout 6+ years ago, so I'm ruling out any tree related injuries. Also I only run conventional.). It cycles Forward, Neutral, Neutral, Neutral, Forward. When it used to reverse, the light on the tender would light up, but not any longer so I thought maybe it was the tether between the engine and the tender. The tether wire looks to be in good shape, the outer wire sheathing has come back a little at the the connector, but all the individual wires are secure and have no sheating issues.
I'm pretty good with full repairs on Lionel Postwar, but when I saw the computer chip inside this engine, I decided to put it back together and live with it going in one direction. I haven't been able to find anything about it online and I don't want to take it to a shop for repairs if I don't have to since they charger an arms and a leg. So I figured I'd put it out there to see if any of you have had any similar problems. Sorry I can't provide much more info, as I mentioned, all the trains are in storage and I'm in the next state Thanks!
