I have 2 older K-line F7s that both seem to run with a wire connecting them like a steam engine to its tender. Only problem is my F7s just do not have a connecting wire, its obvious where the wire should go because of the holes in the rear doors of each unit. I opened the units and in the rear unit the one without the TMCC boards or sound unit it has a male 10 pin cable

and In the front unit I found a female 10 pin.

I put them on 2 tracks side by side and connected them and they run perfectly in sync but the wires are obviously not long enough to reach across the units.

So obviously I am missing some kind of connecting wire of course K-line doesnt exist anymore I cant get a replacement wire not that I would even know what to search for. I was wondering if I could use a 10 pin cable (or whatever that wire is called I m truly not sure what its called) in between the units and just not be able to separate them but atleast have them running. Or if anyone knows if I could find a replacement wire if anyone is selling them anywhere or what to search to find them.

If all else fails, you could buy some 10 wire cable (https://www.amazon.com/Ribbon-...s=gateway&sr=8-7) and cut one of your connectors off leaving about 2" of wire on the end of the connector.

Cut a new length of wire you need to connect the cars and splice the new wire in where the cable was cut and to the wires you left attached to the connector that was cut off. That will allow you to extend one of the connectors to the length you need w/o having to locate a matching male/female connectors.

It's a lot of splicing, but whatever works.

You could also trying searching for Glarks - they make a kit with various connectors and wire that should work if you want to make your own extension cable.
