I got this car a while back. Really good condition, original box. I was recently looking to add to it when i discovered the ungodly prices k-line cars are selling for. Anyways, I was wondering if someone could give me a rough estimate of what this car might be valued at.

To my knowledge, K-Line made three (PRR, Santa Fe 7 So. Pac.) of these all metal executive cars. They are beautiful and originally sold for nearly $100.00 a piece. When K-Line went under, following the Lionel suit, around '07-'08, many big K-Line dealers, and there were specially designated stores, blew out their inventory. Barry's Train Shop was one of them. He was selling the cars at York for $35.00 or three for a $100.00. Today, the price on the secondary market is right up near or beyond the original for this car. The rest of the coaches that match this executive observation sell for substantially less. They are excellent pieces, heavy, but run well and except for diaphragms that dry out but are replaceable hold up beautifully.
I really appreciate the information. This helps me a lot. I’m not looking to screw anyone over with pricing like I’ve seen on eBay.

I also have one. I think I've seen them in the TCA Quarterly "for sale" listings in the $65-$75 range. However prices are typically favorable in that Members Only publication.
If you have the SKU TrainCity has an online price guide for most model train manufacturers.
I own 3 different road names of the 18" models of that I purchased from my friend and dealer Tom's Trains of Ardsley, NY when they first were released. The catalog price was $119.95. I paid $95.00 each for them upon their release in the early 90s. They are the Santa Fe, the Southern Pacific, and the Pennsylvania. In real life the Pennsylvania car started out as that famous beer companies business car from St. Louis. It was later sold to the Pennsylvania and then to Amtrak. I wonder if any of the 3 cars still exist.

Yes. All three ex-Santa Fe open-platform, stainless steel, office cars are still in use, in BNSF's large business car fleet.
They are the Atchison and Topeka -- one built with 4-wheel trucks in 1949 and the other in 1950 -- and the Santa Fe, built with 6-wheel trucks in 1957. ATSF also bought a lightweight, smooth side, streamlined, office car from U S Steel, and renamed it John S Reed. It did not have a stainless steel exterior and was painted by ATSF in the "shadow stripe" scheme, imitation stainless steel (metallic light grey) with black shadow stripes to resemble fluted stainless steel. The Reed has rear windows, but no open platform, and is also in use by BNSF. It is still painted imitation stainless steel, but no longer has the shadow stripes.

Forget that. Sell it on eBay, and donate what you consider the excess to charity.
There's going to have to be a lot of donating this year.

Just because an item is listed at a certain price on ebay, doesn't mean people are paying that.

Which is precisely why you won't get top dollar for this car. I think Johns mention of $65-$75 is a bit more realistic if you include shipping.
Having said that, theres a millenium buisness car on ebay right now with a display base priced at $60
K-Line made 15" and 18" business cars. I believe the 18" cars bring a bit more. The 15" cars, not so much. It appears the OP has an 18" car.

Just my 2-cents. I may be wrong but do not recall K-Line making a full set of PRR fluted SS passenger cars that match your(our) 16" #1000 business car. K-Line also made a 16" fluted SS Busch "Adophus" business car. They also made a PRR 19" smooth side tuscan #120 business car that matched their original set.
Below are five of my K-Line (the Georgia is MTH) business cars. My 6th K-Line car is the smooth tuscan blunt end observation car "Alexander Johnston Cassatt."

Thanks for sharing your photos Ron. I've always been a big fan of K line scale passenger cars. I did'nt realize K line made the Georgia 300 business car. I have the same car made by MTH ... who did a fine job with the car.
I love the old K-Line 21 inch passenger cars, especially the business cars and try to get them when they’re priced right. Here’s my K-Line Business Car “Santa Fe”. I changed the trucks to MTH ones and removed the brake cylinders and all associated bracketing (this car has disc braked trucks) and changed the diaphragm to an Atlas tube style one that they use on the Comet cars to make it look like more of a modern day business car.
Thanks,

Well, if you’re interested I can sell you the PRR car.
