K-Line Trainmaster TMCC, Smoke, etc.....HELP!

First off, you almost surely don't need a board.  The smoke unit has a couple of cheap electronic components on it, they're all readily available.  Are you "sure" the smoke unit died and not the triac on the smoke switch, wiring, or the triac on the R2LC?  How did you determine that the smoke unit was the cause?

This is what I was told by the person repairing the unit.  The fan operates, the element get's hot....but he stated the board is bad?  I am not a electrical genius.  Is there a way I can check if its the smoke switch, etc?

If the fan run and the element gets hot, I can't imagine what he's complaining about.  I think you need another repair person!  If all that happens, how can there not be smoke?  The only thing that comes to mind is you need a new wick!

Or fluid, or an impeller.  K-line is out of business, so you need a tech that can repair if that is the issue, or see the product to match up to an equivalent Lionel if one matches.  G

Most of the K-Line stuff used very common components for the smoke unit, many used the Lionel smoke unit.  If the motor and heater work on the smoke unit, I'm sure it can be fixed.  The impeller is possible, I have CA cement for that option.   I've worked on a lot of K-Line smoke units, and I've never felt the need to replace the whole unit or even the board.
