Agreed. I make my own from Evergreen styrene strips at .500" wide, and varying thicknesses from .040" to .120". I think those Micro-Mark shims are way too expensive and generally NOT the thickness I require anyway.

Depending on the car/engine...you can use up a ton of the Mico Mark shims as they are only .025. I always keep some in stock, but I also keep various styrene sheets in stock to cut my own. You can also get 3D printed pads for specific cars/engines from CentralFan1976 here on the forum.
