This is probably a stupid question but ??  I understand that Blue tooth is short range and normally does not require a passcode. I understand that WiFi is longer range ,normally requires a passcode and is used for internet service etc.  My understanding is that sometimes they can use the same frequency.

If I am using my legacy base with the LCS WiFi module and running my trains with my iPad or iphone is that considered blue tooth or WiFi?  Should I have the blue tooth selector switch in the engines on or off?

The difference between WiFi and blue tooth is a bit of a grey area to me.

Thanks Rich R

I played around with the LCS Wi-Fi module several months ago, and I'm pretty sure I connected via Wi-Fi. If memory serves, it presents it's own Wi-Fi network that you join on your iPad. Regardless, Lionel put out a video that should be able to help you out here.

As far as the Bluetooth selector, I believe that to be irrelevant in this situation. I believe that just toggles the ability for you to connect directly to your locomotive via Bluetooth from the LionChief app, so you can leave that on, if you choose.
