Very nice.
I sure like the airplane flat car.
Very nice...all three.
Looks like Andy's Olympia reefers are still on indefinite hold. I think he was having trouble getting permission to use the trademark due to some kind of change of policy at the brewery.
Andy and Julia run a first-class operation as Petersen Supply, and I miss seeing them at York for a few years now. Being based in Oregon, I can only surmise it was a stretch for them to fly out to York twice a year and get a good ROI for the travel expenses.
I have many of their ATLAS-O special runs, including some of those earlier Great Northern box cars. Gotta catch up on #4 and #5! Check out their website for what is still a very comprehensive list of excellent special-run jewels.

This is number 10 and the final of the Great Northern " circus " boxcars. Andy started this series quite a few years ago with Atlas. The real deal Great Northern boxcars were one of a kind experimental paint jobs for employees to see to determine possible future paint schemes.
Will have to pull them all out and hook up behind my Great Northern EP-5.

It's great to see dealers having special runs done. Some of our best cars and engines are obtained that way.

Art,
I agree. The cupboard has been a little bare the last couple of years.

I thought I would be interested in one of those SP&S boxcars, but more than $80, including shipping, is simply too much. Darn, as that is a really nice looking boxcar.
I also like the SP&S boxcar. I have one from another manufacturer and it looks good on the layout. Peterson's always has good looking special runs.

Yep, the last time I talked to Andy the Oly reefer negotiations was not smooth sailing.
Bill,
I can only imagine what effort it must take to get permission for something like this. Everything has become so legal/lawyer intensive.
I never really gave it much thought but I guess permission is required for use of any company logos on model trains.
I hope they get the required permission, these are some very nice cars.

Ken-Oscale,
Andy Petersen owns Petersen Supply which is located in Portland Oregon. Purchased items from him in the past, he was always helpful and items were shipped in a timely manner.
Thanks for posting Bill. Those cars look great.
This is my favorite from Andy Petersen. Could be that back in the 60's I sampled a lot of Rainier Beer when I lived in Seattle.
Looks like Andy did a pretty good job on these guys compared to the real deal.
This final car in the GN "circus" series is mildly disappointing. The prototype GN 18588 boxcar was dark orange in color, with the reporting marks painted yellow. The new Atlas car is vermillion red, with white reporting marks, as Bill's picture shows. The mineral red trucks are correct. The color accuracy on the other nine cars was pretty good.
I have a lot of Peterson cars on my layout.....good stuff!
Just looked on their website. The flatcar with plane is $51.95. Not as steep as the boxcars. And no shipping for those of us here in Portland
Sharp-looking cars to be sure!
Peter
Andy has done a lot of locos and rolling stock for the Spokane Portland & Seattle RR, I think I have purchased most of them going back quite a few years.
