I'm trying to help someone get thier grandchild's used Lionel Ready To Play train set going.
The engine powers up and chirps searching for the RF signal. Sometimes the bell & whistle will sound but the train never moves. The remote turns on the red led but will not pair to the loco successfully. New batteries in both.
Has anyone tried the LC universal remote with a battery-powered RTP loco?

The RTP sets are not LC based, so I can't see how the Universal Remote will run them.
I assume the thinking is that the RTP sets use a remote that is markedly similar in appearance, design and function to the LC remotes and that, if operated on the same set of frequencies, a universal remote might also work for RTP sets.
Of course, this also assumes that the source of the problem in this case is the remote and not something else.
Well, it's a question only Lionel can truly answer, but I don't see any evidence those sets used the LC logic.
