THE LCCA IS NOW IN TALKS WITH LIONEL LLC AND CONSIDERING MAKING BETWEEN 150 T0 200 MAXIMUM AF SETS. THIS IS A MARKET TEST. IF BY CHANCE IT DOESN'T PAN OUT NO MORE SETS WILL BE PRODUCED. THERE ARE MANY O GAUGE MEMBERS WHO ARE NOW CONSIDERING PURCHASING SOME FLYER SINE THE INVENTION OF FAST TRACK, MODERN DIESELS AND SCALE ROLLING STOCK. WE HAVE NOT AND WILL NOT FORGET THE POSTWAR GUYS! YOU HAVE MY WORD.

My understanding is that the original heavyweight tooling is not in a suitably well preserved condition for continued use, can you confirm this is still the case?

If it can't be used then I assume naturally that the new HW tooling will be used.

What I have also noticed is that Lionel have been releasing AF passenger set combinations with only three cars as in the 'O' gauge product line. Traditionally top of the range passenger sets have four cars, if this is one of your options will this be a four car set?

What has been the experience with Fast Track for American Flyer?  How well do locomotives like the Challenger track on Fast Track?  My experience with semi scale engines on MTH RealTrax has been very good.  Very infrequent derailments even running at higher speeds and long trains.  Usually the derailment on Real Trax is caused by something other than the track and I can count on one hand the number of derailment over a several year period.

If the new HW's are produced and liveried in either the original Flyer Green or Maroon, then it puts an interesting twist to it. I'll ask again, if HW's are an option, will they be a three or four car set?

Again, the 343 is not going to happen as I believe the tooling is not in its best health, just like the original HW's.  Also, if you look at the detail on late production 0-8-0 engines the detail is poor, especially on the top,of the cab, the rivet detail has gone, so even if it had survived it would need investment to restore the detail.

The one steam engine that has not been mentioned is the 0-6-0 B6 slope back, whatever happened to the tooling for this engine? Did it survive or is it also beyond redemption?

Neil
