I was recently been watching a Charles Smiley railroad video on CSX. It got me to thinking about the possibility of the manafacturers offering engines in the paint schemes of companies who lease locomotives to the railroads. This would be something different to offer the market instead of the same old, same old. I'm not sure about the costs involved for licensing agreements etc., but I for one would welcome it. A new trick for some old dogs.

My early experiences with leased power were centered largely around the many units Conrail leased from Precision National to ease a severe power shortage shortly after its implementation. PNC's green and yellow scheme became very familiar around the system.

In the current era, hardly a day passes without seeing at least one locomotive owned by a leasing company.

Not only locomotives in leased liveries, but also rolling stock. Constantly parked on a siding next to the MRC building are strings of plain gray, [faded and otherwise], 4 bay  GATX cylindrical hoppers with GPLX reporting marks and numbers. I wish one of the manufacturers would just do plain gray hoppers of this type with dimensional data markings and furnish a decal sheet for GATX with various road numbers so one can build a fleet of these....that would be nice
