Marty answered this on another post.   If you have 1.6 you can go to 1.74 directly.  

I just updated mine.    It’s been awhile, once I got all the connections correct, it was pretty simple.

When you download the update there is a "Read Me" file. Take a look at it before you do the upgrade if you're not familiar with doing the upgrade.  It answers a lot of the questions.

I'm assuming any USB to RS232 cable Amazon has would do the trick...

Do you have a LCS WiFi module installed?  You can use that to get into the Legacy Base.  If not, I don't know of any recommended USB adapters but I have used several and they all seemed to have worked.

Also please note that Base V1.6 is included in this ZIP file.  I would recommend if you are not at V1.6 on your base to upgrade it as well.

Could mean the base3 is getting close .

This is what I bought from Amazon to do my base and cab2 update. Instead of having a jumper to a jumper to connect everything I went with one cable. Now you can use any type of USB connection but this is what I bought. Simple and easy to use.
