Legacy error 'both slow flashing red'

Sounds like a good question for Mike Reagan.

They do seem to shoot all around that condition.  I got very used to seeing various combinations of flashing red lights before I sent my base in for the charging circuit fix.  If you haven't sent it in for the new charging circuit, you're likely to see such things.

John, its basically a brand new base. They replaced my old one 2 or 3 months ago. Sigh, I guess I'll give em a call and see if they can tell me what the flash sequence means. It doesnt seem worth getting the charger fixed, as it seems to break again, or the supplied batteries go bad, etc...

You may be right.   I finally got my #993 charger working properly, and I charge both remotes in that one.

My base did that last week, it turned out to be one of the batteries was shorted.  Replaced all three with 2500mah type and flash returned to normal back and forth flash.

I experience the exact same problem.  I sent it back to Lionel and they turned it around in 1 week.  Unfortunately the problem was not fixed, so off it went back to Lionel last week. Lionel paid for the shipping and is not charging for the repair, even though the unit is almost 3 years old.The problem is most likely in the base charging circuit.

I don't know what speed "slow" or "fast" flashing is, but both of my bases flashed the red lights together before they were repaired.  They both charge now, but the #990 gets the remote too hot for my liking during the charge, so I only charge in the #993 charging base, it works fine.

It's the charging circuit. They don't work. Put regular batteries in it.

I have the same occurrence on the Legacy base that I use at the greenberg shows and the local show I do with my club. I put the remote into the base for charging and usually leave it there for about 1/2 hour to give the batteries enough of a charge to last for the show. As for my base at my home layout, have not seen that happened.

I might send the one base back to Lionel to fix the charging circuit, but for now, the base communicates fine and figure if that works, why bother fixing something simple. I jsut use an outside charger unit for those batteries.

I fixed it with energizer rechargables and a wall charger. It doesnt seem worth it to send it back, as it appears to be nothing but a band-aid before the replacement charging circuit breaks. Seems to me like they would have done better with a cell phone wall charger that plugs into a battery pack in the remote, separate from the radio base.
