Dear PJB, I have the same programing problem. Still not sure if I am going to send my PRR ABBA set back to the dealer or to Lionel. But if you want a consist, I do not recommend programing with the same ID number. Better to create an true consist with the TMCCII handset. I am assuming you have legacy. If you can't program one engine, you cannot build a consist with that engine. Period. So you will have to wait until you get the programing issue fixed with all the engines. Again, I have the same problem. However, once you do get the programing problem fixed, here is how to create a consist, with the pages numbers for the information in the manual. It is not too hard once you get the hang of it.
Building a Lash-up of engines in Legacy (pages 60-62 of manual)
- Do not mix Legacy with TMCC, p61
- Turn on the remote by pressing the “CTC” (Central Train Control, p48) button
- You will see the “TR” (Train) button, Press it
- Enter the number of your new Lash-up (Train). If you give a new lash-up the same train number as an old lash-up, the legacy base still remembers to engines in the old lash-up and will operate all the engines, both new and old, as one train. Thus, do not copy lash-up numbers, or make sure you "Clear" any old lash-ups before using the train number again.
- Press “INFO”
- The number of your new lash-up (train) should appear in bold letters at the top of the screen, e.g. “Train 4 Info”
- It is best to have a hard copy list of your engines with the ID numbers because the build train screen does not show complete information. If you want complete information from the handset, press the “ENG” button and then “SCROLL.”
- Press “INFO”
- Press “BUILD” in the main screen
- Enter the Locomotive two digit ID # you want
- Look at the bottom of the “Touch Pad,” (not the bottom of the main screen) and you will see “train link” (explained very poorly on p61) a horn logo and an announcement logo. You can one or all of these options to each locomotive in a lash up. Having all the horns go off at once is nice, the bells less so. Generally you only want one announcement per train.
- Use the velocity throttle to select which engine you want to add or delete
When you have the lash up you want, press “SET” in the main screen. Wait while the handset programs the train you have created. The program will test lights, horns and stuff. Wow, this is really neat. The program will tell you “TRAIN CREATED.” Ready to go, really neat.
