Just rolled out my Legacy NW J (the locomotive and aluminium car set Lionel recently delivered that was in the 2012 catalogue) and the cuffing sound is so very low!  Turned the screw to max in tender and put volume to top setting on the Legacy remote. The whistle and crew talk are as they should be - loud. My other Legacy locos all function perfectly on same loop. Even hit the reset (or capital R) button.  No difference.  Help?

Try raising the "background sounds"

Press AUX-1 VOL^, AUX-1 VOL^, AUX-1 VOL^.......... until you get the desired chuff volume.

Legacy has 2 volume levels. Main volume: Vol ^ , Vol ^.......

                              Back ground volume: AUX-1 Vol^, AUX-1 Vol^........

Lowering the volume in either case would obviously be VOL v

Its in the locomotive owners manual. However it isn't especially clear that you need to push AUX-1 every time you push the vol^ in order to access the background adjustment.

"Volume UP Raises the overall master volume of the LEGACY RailSounds sound system. To independently adjust the level of the background sounds only (e.g., the chuffing sounds and steam hiss), tap AUX1 and then this key."

I think some folks hit the AUX1 and then consecutively push vol^ vol^ which goes back to the main volume.
