How can I add Legacy control to two unconnected layouts short of purchasing another Legacy controller? Thanks for any help

I am probably way off base but I would think that as long as both layouts are physically near each other the two unconnected layouts would be equivalent to one layout with two electrically isolated track lines. I would think that as long as both layouts share the same ground you can wire the command base to both???????

What exactly do you mean by 'unconnected'?
If they are close to each other, all you need to do is to run an extra wire from the Legacy base to the track on the other layout.
Yes, just connect the outset rails together. I actually had a test layout with a separate transformer, not connected outset rails, and Legacy worked. Had to turn Legacy off to work on the engine for what i wanted to do. In the same room though.
Yes, they adjacent to each other. I will connect the outside rail of the "unconnected" layout to the Legacy base. sounds easy enough. Thanks for the help.

The common ground is not needed?

Transformer common ground is not needed. Earth ground radiates the signal through the air so it will work for any layout close enough to the house wiring that has the outside rail connected to the Legacy base U terminal (aka TrackLink)

Hi Joe. No, as Chris explained above, you just need the signal wire. Earth ground, and transformer common ground are two quite different items here, even though they are often called by the same term of 'ground'.
