I placed a lionchief board (not plus)in a conventional hogwarts loco (gutted the orginal e unit) and did not attach the electronics to the tender. The loco runs in only one direction. Do i need to place a switch to control direction ?? Thanks for any help LS

As far as I know, "original" LionChief (specifically pre-Bluetooth) doesn't reverse with transformer control. It must be operated with the corresponding Lionel remote control. If the loco has a DC motor, you could install a switch that reverses polarity of voltage to the motor which would make it run in reverse. Then again, you could have done the same thing without LionChief using just a rectifier.
What were your goals/expectations for this project?
i wanted to be able to use it alongside other digital command locomotives (mth and other lionchief). The lionchief remote operates the engine in one direction only, regardless of which direction i am operating the lc remote. I was thinking the lionchief pcb is a little wonky. thanks LS

I used a Dino LC board for a project loco recently. I have the original remote and Universal remote and the board works fine. I'd suspect you have a wonky board.
Maybe invest in a Universal remote ? Possibly the board is good but the remote is not.

thanks will purchase the universal.
An added bonus of the universal is that it can be a Hotspot for LC boards that will sync with the Lionchief app.
