Anyone have some advice on tuning the pre/postwar 164 up to prevent the logs from falling off the grapplers as it goes up the conveyor?

Are you talking about the pre/post war one, or the modern one?
I would think that maybe you need to bend the hooks that pick up the logs. Are the hooks even, or is one higher that the other. If that is the case you may need to take them off and re-aline them across from each other.
I was finally able to adjust the hooks to keep the logs on. The hooks on one side had to be bent forward at the attachment point on the drive chain.
Yes! There's quite a bit of satisfaction in getting old things working again.
