My subject engine has been converted to EER and I am having an issue with it being very slow to respond in any mode. It will respond eventually and then kind of take off and I have to stop it. I did put it in all the momentum modes and still nothing. Everything else works on it except for some reason the backup light won't go on when in reverse. Again, the main issue is it just hesitates when I try to throttle and sometimes it just sits there and won't respond. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you very much, Jerry

I assume you installed an AC Commander? If so, non cruise engines respond similarly to conventional engines running off a transformer. You have to raise the voltage to the motor until it starts to move. That varies by motor and load and means it may take quite a few speed steps.

First off, I'd make sure that the motor runs fine without drawing excessive current without the AC Commander in the picture. Since the AC Commander doesn't offer cruise, if the motor is laggy by itself, it won't improve with the AC Commander in the picture. The AC open-frame motors need some TLC to insure they run well before you add the command electronics.
Wire the motor field and armature in series across power and run it conventionally with a transformer. If it doesn't run well in conventional mode, it won't in command mode either.
Thank you John, for the heck of it I tried running in my cab one L controller and it runs fine and everything works. Is it that maybe my legacy controller was set up in the wrong mode? Thanks again for your help as I appreciate it. Jerry
Thanks all of you for the information. Jerry

If it moves, I can't believe it's programmed wrong. If you have it in Legacy control, typically it won't move at all.
One other obvious issue, is the Train Brake on the CAB2 all the way down?
No I didn't have the brake on. I had sent my legacy controller back to Lionel a few weeks ago and got it back saying it was okay? Could it be the module on the Legacy?
