I JUST BOUGHT THIS AND THE MANUAL (page 11) SHOWS A PICTURE OF, AFTER REMOVAL of the magnetic cover exposing the various control switches, there shows an opening to add fluid for Dynamno smoke. There is not such a spout to add smoke, therefore where is the spout to add the smoke for the dynamo? I see two other hatches on top that open, but neither appear the proper place to add smoke fluid. Please advise. Thanks

I'll put the answer first and then the "question".
@Gary Marsh posted:Bill I have the same GS4 and looking at your picture you should put the smoke fluid in the lower opening with the pipe that leads to the dynamo's on the locomotive. Just take a closer look and you'll see that the hole closest to the side of the locomotive is where the fans is, Hope this helps you.

@NH Bill posted:I bought one of the new Vision GS-4 locos with the dynamo smoke effect (sku 2031520). The picture below is of the hatch where the smoke fill is done for the dynamo feature. The Lionel owners manual says to add fluid in the hole closest to the top of the picture. Can someone confirm that is the correct hole to use as opposed to the hole closer to the bottom of the picture? The top hole looked kind of shallow to me and I just want to make sure I wasn't dropping smoke fluid in the wrong place. Thanks for your help.
Again, do not put into the fan opening. It goes into the taller duct that extends past the opening that is the output duct. The hatch has a protrusion with an o-ring to cap and seal that when the cover is replaced.
I dont have that When I remove the magnetic hatch it has the five slider switches for the controls. No holes for smoke

Not all Vision GS's had dynamo steam effect. Some had whistle steam...some dynamo. There is a post about it somewhere on here.

nah i got the steam bell version
Just watched the Trainworld video on this engine. There are 2 smoke units, the front one being a "dual". Again, technically 3 smoke units, but one is a dual with a shared housing.
In other words, when you fill the main stack, there is a second side to that unit and fan that also is for the cylinder cock steam effect. Again filling the main stack with double the fluid (40+ drops) because you are filling for 2 smoke units that share the same fluid fill.
However, you then ALSO have a second smaller single smoke unit nearer the rear for the whistle steam. There must be a second fill for that second unit. AKA another hatch- or fill hole- now updated per the manual.
AHHHH that explained it Love this forum filled with great information Thanks so much!!!
OK, per page 11 of the manual, they did it "the hard way" for some models
You definitely might have to blow down that hole to clear any fluid drops from blocking the smoke coming back out and a needle bottle or the included smoke dropper.
