Trying to get a 2065 steamer back on the rails.  I need to separate the front truck from the motor frame.  It seems to be held on by two pins press fit through the truck and motor assembly.  I don’t have a press or any special tools.  The pins are conical (like a pencil end) one one end.  Anyone got any advice on how to remove these?  I’m looking for some type of concave punch I can put over the pointed end of the pin and try to hammer it out?

Any suggestion or comments based on experience would be appreciated.  Am I biting off more than I can chew?

Removing those pins will allow you to remove the whole front bracket. That is normally not necessary. Why do you want to take it off? The front truck is mounted by one shoulder screw.

When I want to remove those pins, I tap them out with a pin punch. The punch goes on the conical end.

To install, slide the conical end back into the holes and tap the other end in with your pin punch.

No press or special tools needed.

If you have the right sized hammer, you don't even need the pin punch
