lionel 226 and 260 shell removal

Can anyone point me to simple instructions to remove the body shell from my prewar 226E and my 260E so I can access the motor and e-unit? (Greenberg's manual is no help, and although I can remove obvious screws, I do not want to mess this up! THX!!
