Good morning everyone.  I have a newbie question, I am tried of searching the web for the answer.  I have a Lionel 4-4-2 steam loco made in 1993 that came in an UP express set.  There is no on/off switch for the smoke unit, should I always keep smoke fluid in it while running?  Thanks in advance.

Yes, later engines had on/off switches for the smoke. It would likely be pretty easy to install one.

Keep fluid in it and it will be happy. I've had several of these engines over the years and have actually seen the plastic smoke unit melt when run dry for extended periods of time.

They are great engines, it should run forever!
