Need help with my new acquisition.
I was testing this on my layout and it worked fine. However, when I used the directional handle on a KW it stopped but then wouldn’t do anything. It appears stuck in the neutral position. I also tried it on an ZW with no change. The information sheet indicates power on-off-change direction. I don’t see where it can be done manually. I want to set it for forward motion only.

Is this the 6-18006 product number released in 1989 or another product #?
It’s the model you listed.
there should be a plug in the back of the motor as the direction lock out switch

The plug is there and I tried it with the plug removed and then reinstalled. It lights, and begins to smoke, all of things you would expect in the neutral position. I can’t get it to go forward or reverse.
