I recently purchased a new pair of these on EBay. One works fine, but the other unit does not raise up smoothly, or mostly just stumbles.
I spoke with a local train store who said they're not repairable and that he doesn't sell them anymore because of all of the returned units that he's had.
I removed the bottom plate to have a look, but it appeared to be way over my pay scale!! Wiring looks okay from what I could see, so could be a mechanical issue, but I couldn't get a good look at the mechanism.
Any suggestions? I plan to call Lionel on Monday.
