I just acquired a Lionel 6-18043 C&O.
My question is does the engine not come with any cab interior at all? I also need to find a manual for this beast. There is a switch at the top of the cab that I need to find out what it is for.

The switch at the top of the cab is the program/run switch to assign it a new command control ID number.
This Engine didn’t come with a cab interior.
Is there a way to hide the wire to the tender so it is not so noticeable?

Depends on your budget. There are small 4-pin straight tethers that would certainly be a lot closer to invisible.
Hi: The switch under the cab roof is the run/program switch when running in TMCC mode or forward/reverse directional switch when running in conventional mode. A copy of the owners manual is available on the Lionel web site https://www.lionelsupport.com/...edocuments/71-8073-2.

paliden45 - The following is being provided because when I tried opening the link that Ed B cited it said there was an error. Consequently you can find virtually any Lionel Owner's Manual by doing the following...
- Call up Lionel.Support
- on left hand side select 'Resources' and scroll down to Owner's Manuals
- scroll down the page that opens and fill in the item number (6-18043) in the 'Product Name or Number' space provided, then click on 'Search'
- it will open to the Pictorial Diagram or Manual for your engine
