Greetings!

So I just purchased a Dash 9 in need of repair on eBay...mostly as a project for when I'm done building my Christmas layout.  The seller described it as having a stripped worm gear that will need to be replaced.  He said it also runs only in conventional mode.  The conventional mode is fine for me, for now, as that's all I run.  As I change over later, I'll work on fixing that part.

But I know I need to fix the drive issue first.  After searching for a bit, I was able to find one parts diagram, but it didn't include the gears in the trucks as part of it.  So do you guys know of a diagram that actually listed the gears in this particular truck?

Thanks!

If there is nothing wrong with the boards (not sure if TMCC being broken would affect this - question for Marty F, maybe), the sounds should work in conventional, you just have less control of some of it (like RPMs).

I'm sure I'm starting to sound like a broken record every time this engine comes up, but the horn is phenomenal!

Got the engine today. It does sound great!!

I got a chance to dig into it, too.  Thought I would share it on here in case it helps someone down the road. It's interesting, because the gear doesn't look stripped, but rather it slid off the splined section and wasn't contacting the worm gear.

I slid it back over the splined section, and it seems to be working well. It may be that it slides off again, but I'll cross that bridge when I get there.
