I’m to replace the rings, but I can’t get the cab off and can’t find a manual online. The crane is separated from the base. Any help appreciated. Thanks.

If I remember correctly, I downloaded schematics on modern cranes from the Lionel website. I couldn’t find the exact model number, so I chose one made around the same year. I still had a problem, with the base stopping over a screw I needed to remove, and couldn’t move it without possible damage. That said, I just took it to my local store, where I bought it, and had it repaired and tuned up for a small fee. Hope you find the schematics.
Issues with “modern” gantry cranes come up and a few discussions can be found:

I have serviced a couple and I wish I still had one with me so I can be of more use.
Thank you everyone for your help. Despite decades in the hobby, I’ve not disassembled anything like this before. While the drawing was very helpful, I’m very skittish about undoing all the wiring yet it seems necessary to get access to the gear box interiors. Any help or ideas greatly appreciated.
Thanks once again,
Rubin
