I have a NYC GP-30 (#6-28850) locomotive which  is basically dead. It had been put away for the last two years or so (moving) but brought out recently.  The problem is that it is non-responsive.  When placed on the track and power applied, it will go through the diesel startup sounds, but that is it.  The unit will not respond to the Cab controller at all.  I've run the procedures to renumber and reset it but get no reaction.  So, before I send it out for repair, I thought  I would ask to see if there is any sort of reset procedure, in addition to what is already in the pamphlet which came with it, which I can use to try and get it working.  I've tried running it in both transformer and TMCC modes with the same result...

Thanks!!!

Joel

1. Re read page 5 of owners.  Unit may be locked in neutral.

2. Try the reset again on page 18 of owners manual steps 1-9

3. Try running in conventional mode with TMCC signal to track turned off.

4. Since the unit has been in storage for some time, you might try removing the shell and reseating the R2LC radio board.

5. If unit runs in conventional mode problem could be R2LC board.
