Does anyone have information as to how to disassemble the Lionel 6-38080. I need to get into the engine since it stopped running and I want to trouble shoot the wiring and boards.

I'd start by looking in the User's Manual: GS-2/GS-6 Steam Locomotive - 3/04. Take the screws illustrated below out and lift the boiler shell off. Be careful of the wiring and make sure you don't pinch anything going back together.
