Have an early 50s 736 which I rebuilt . The side rods are quartered and work fine. When I add the eccentric crank gear, I can't get them aligned to get the wheels moving freely No matter what I position I set the left and right they won't sync I need help to solve this

They are quartered correctly. (in John's picture) Are the valve stems too long and striking the back of the cylinder wall? (Repo valve gear?) Is the crosshead catching on the linkage piece that connects the rod and valve stem?
Bob, here’s a rule of thumb to keep handy. I stole John’s picture to mark it up as an aid. With the crank pins ( rod screws I’ve colored blue ) at the 6 o’clock position, the eccentric rod will always follow the angle of the main rod ( I’ve drawn a red line to show this ) This will always get you in the ball park to land on the correct position to find the locks that orient any eccentric crank. Keep in mind, some eccentrics are handed, meaning there’s a left & a right. So keep your stuff in bags or small cups that are labeled from which side you took it off from…..

Pat @harmonyards that’s another great tip I will be adding to my book of knowledge.
I’ll try that. Don’t have issues with other locos. Thanks so much
I need to check if the eccentric rods are hanging up on other components Thanks so much
Thanks for the pics
We when I get the components aligned I get movement . However the eccentric rod comes out of the steam cylinder
